The Original
NEW YORK PET SHOW
Saturday & Sunday, October 27 & 28, 2001
Madison Square Garden
New York City
10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The Original NEW YORK PET SHOW is the first of its kind to be held in New York City at the World Famous Madison Square Garden on Saturday and Sunday, October 27 and 28, 2001.

The goal of this event is to promote responsible pet ownership and proper nutrition, better training and greater health and well being of pets. You will meet other pet owners, veterinarians and pet store owners from the five boroughs, Long Island, Northern New Jersey and Southern Connecticut.

IS YOUR PET A "GOOD CITIZEN"?
DOES IT HAVE "STAR POTENTIAL"?

Then it (and you) deserve a certificate attesting to its good manners. For dogs these come when they successfully complete the AKC Canine "Good Citizen®" Test. For cats, The Cat Fanciers' Association offers a Feline"Good Citizen" Award.

Tests for both cats and dogs will be offered at The Original NEW YORK PET SHOW on both days from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. All Pets must be Pre-Registered for all Events.

RULES: All Pets participating in any event at The Original NEW YORK PET SHOW must be healthy adults and have up-to-date vaccinations (including rabies). Dogs must be licensed and on leash at the Show. Cats must arrive and remain in their carrying cases. Pets in heat will not be allowed entrance.

EMERGENCY DISASTER RELIEF
INFORMATION FOR YOUR PETS

In addition to the many humans affected by an emergency or natural disaster are the many pets left behind in homes whose owners have been hospitalized or deceased. The tragic circumstances of the "dark days" of September have brought to light the fact there is a need to educate pet owners on how they can train their pets to cope with these disasters, thus making their rescue easier.

NYSAVE, The Veterinary Medical Association of NYC and Paws Across America will be presenting a conference on "Emergency Disaster Relief for Your Pets". Bash Dibra, animal behaviorist, will teach people how to train your pets to cope with disasters. NYSAVE and The Veterinary Medical Association of NYC will provide information to pet owners on what steps to take to prepare themselves and their pets in the event of an emergency and how to deal with the after effect. Bash will also include information on humane groups, shelters, pet loss bereavement counselors, and search and rescue teams. The purpose of this conference is to educate pet owners and the public on how to deal with the post trauma effect of the disasters for the pets and their owners.

COSTUME & LOOK-A-LIKE CONTESTS"

You and your dog or cat can still have fun at The Original NEW YORK PET SHOW even if your pet does not wish to participate in the "Good Citizen" Contest. There will be a SPECIAL COSTUME and A LOOK-A-LIKE Contest with celebrity judges and prizes. Same rules will apply. (See RULES above.)

"STAR SEARCH"

If your Fido or Fifi has the personality to wow the crowd during a "PET SCREEN TEST", it could be the winner of a special workshop with renowned pet trainer, Bash Dibra, author of DogSpeak and CatSpeak. Additional information is available at his website: www.starpet.com. Same rules will apply. (See RULES above.)

ALL PETS MUST BE PRE-REGISTERED FOR EVENTS.

Registration Fee per Pet for All or Any of the Events/Tests/Contests: $25.00

Registration fees benefit NY SAVE (NYSave Animals in Veterinary Emergency), a charitable organization dedicated to providing funds for the emergency care of pets owned by low income New Yorkers. When such pets are seriously ill or injured, NY SAVE provides the money necessary for their immediate care with the help of veterinarians throughout the five boroughs of New York City.
